This strategic document, developed for the first time in Kosovo, aims the enhancement the system and mechanisms for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage in accordance with the legal framework, principles and international standards, as well as on the basis of sustainable economic, social and cultural development. Despite numerous challenges in this regard, inherited and actual ones, the continuous engagement of MCYS and relevant institutions in the field of cultural heritage has made this to become a government priority.

Institutions involved in preparation of the National Strategy for Cultural Heritage are: Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and cultural heritage subordinate institutions; Office for Strategic Planning/Office of Prime Minister; Ministry of European Integration; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning; University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina"; Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage; Local NGOs "Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB)" from Prishtina and "EC Ma Ndryshe" from Prizren.
