MountainScape: Unveiling Cultural Treasures in the High Peaks of Kosovo and Albania

We are excited to announce the launch of MountainScape, an innovative project aimed at protecting and promoting the rich cultural landscapes of the high peaks of Kosovo and Albania.

The main objectives of our project are to increase awareness and understanding of the cultural landscape's value; enhance management practices and preservation efforts; and promote sustainable tourism and socio-economic development.

MountainScape key activities include:

  • Development and delivery of training modules focused on cultural landscape valorization.
  • Establishment of a roadmap for managing and mapping cultural landscapes.
  • Researching and Mapping of key cultural and historical features in the region.
  • Engagement and collaboration with local communities and stakeholders by organizing a two-week training camp.

MountainScape will directly benefit over 1,000 individuals, including local communities, cultural heritage professionals, and students, fostering a deeper appreciation and effective conservation practices.

This initiative seeks to promote and protect the unique cultural landscapes in north and west Albania and west Kosovo and is implemented by CHwB Kosovo, Go2Albania in cooperation with the Regional office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Tirana, in the framework of “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans”, a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.
