In this edition of Heritage Lab, for 12 days, students will be able to build their knowledge in cultural heritage field as well as mural art by being part of an Art- Led regeneration project of a renowned monument, the Bridge of Tabake in Gjakova, throughout lectures, research and practical work led by various experts.

MEET THE LECTURERS OF THE WORKSHOP

TAULANT QERKINI

Taulant Qerkini is known by his artist name “TAK”. Born in 1990 and raised in urban Prishtina in a post war setting, he has become a synonym for Graffiti and Mural artwork in Kosovo. TAK was influenced and discovered his passion for art as a means of disrupting the black and white post-socialism reality with artworks in public spaces full of life and colors. By combining his talent with an appetite for interdisciplinary (art and design) TAK brings about a unique and exquisite take on design, over time his work has excelled with unique projects in Graphic Design, specifically in developing Brand Identity.  His creativity inspired numerous collaborations with widely known brands, architects, and creators across Prishtina, Tirana, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin. For more than 15 years TAK has been executing unique works of art for which now his style and reputation precedes his name. Beyond his traditional specialities, TAK’s interests are in product design / craftsmanship, various printing techniques, calligraphy and self-made lettering.

Apart from his craft, TAK is also an Assistant-Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Prishtina where is teaching Calligraphy and Typography. TAK is an optimist, nature lover, pen and paper believer, and adrenaline sports fanatic.

ERËMIRË KRASNIQI

Erëmirë Krasniqi (1985) graduated from Bard College Berlin in Aesthetics, Philosophy and Literature and earned a Masters degree in Comparative Literature from Dartmouth College. At Dartmouth, she worked as Teaching Assistant for several courses and Research Assistant for The Media Ecology Project, a digital resource which engaged new forms of scholarly production, supporting and advocating the essential work of media archives. In 2017, she completed Exhibiting Contemporary History – Representing 20th Century program, a year long study in museology and curatorial practices at the Friedrich Schiller University. Krasniqi is the Executive Director of the Oral History Initiative, a non-governmental organization engaged in the production of a multilingual online digital archive.

SALI SHOSHI

Sali Shoshi is an architect and environmentalist from Kosovo. He has been involved in the conservation of cultural heritage of Kosovo for 17 years as a member of the Kosovan Foundation “Cultural Heritage without Borders” – CHwB Kosova. Shoshi is involved in many initiatives and projects for the protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage in post-conflict and transition contexts.

This workshop is part of the project “Inter-community Dialogue through Inclusive Cultural Heritage Preservation” implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Kosovo and financed by the European Union’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP).
