The condition of 3 historic buildings in Dragash is improved

During the spring and summer of this year, were completed the restoration works at the mausoleum of Selim Deda in Restelica village, the mill of Leshtan village and the traditional house of Ismajl Abazi in the village of Bresanë. These buildings will now serve the owners and various communities of the Municipality of Dragash.

The mausoleum of Selim Deda in Restelica is believed that was built to honor one of the heroes of this village, Selim dedo (grandfather Selim), the warrior of 1389 Battle of Kosovo. The building is part of the list of Cultural Heritage under temporary protection of MCYS and represents one of the rare monuments of its kind left in the country. Although there is considerable lack of data about this building, the respect and memory that people have for it is quite high. Interventions conducted on this building are: reconstruction of the roof structure by reusing undamaged roof beams and inserting new beams in the structure; placement of hydro insulation and replacement of stone slates in the roof; rendering damaged parts of the inner walls; treatment of all windows in the building and repair of existing metal door by cleaning and painting it with the original colour.1 selim (13)1 selim (13)  1 selim (14)1 selim (15)  1 selim (16)1 selim (19)  1 selim (20)

The mill of Leshtan village although without a legal status, is the only functional mill in this village that survived the destruction by the time factor. According to interviews with owners, milling is built around the end of the XIXth century. Interventions carried out in the building include: reconstruction of the roof structure by reusing undamaged roof beams and inserting new beams in the structure; placement of hydro insulation and placement of new roof tiles instead of metal sheet covering; damaged masonry wall on the south side was constructed with stone and lime mortar; enclosure of chimney with plasticized tin, rendering and painting of the exterior walls.

Until a few years ago, this house was used as a family residence, while recently iss used only as a summer kitchen. Interventions carried out in this building are: reconstruction of the roof structure by reusing undamaged roof beams and inserting new beams in the structure; placement of hydro insulation and replacement of stone slates in the roof; treatment of cracks and damaged plaster and render; treatment of slab and floors as needed; treatment of all existing windows, which was done by painting and cleaning their wood base colour and glazing in all needed parts; rendering and lime washing the exterior walls.
