Children Explore the Tradition of Transhumance Through Play at KAH DRITA III

The children’s workshop on the theme Transhumance” has concluded as part of the third edition of KAH DRITA, offering young participants from Junik an engaging opportunity to discover one of the region’s oldest traditions through improvisation and creative play alongside actress Hajat Tocilla.

Through improvisation, the children recreated the seasonal journey of sheep to the mountain pastures, the sheep-shearing process, and the traditional transformation of wool into clothing and other handmade products. Using movement, storytelling, and imagination, they explored different stages of pastoral life while learning about the customs that have shaped the cultural identity of the area for generations.

The workshop introduced children to the concept of transhumance in an interactive and accessible way, encouraging them to connect with their cultural heritage while expressing themselves creatively. By stepping into different roles, they experienced how this centuries-old practice has influenced everyday life in Junik and why it remains an important part of the region’s identity.

As one of the educational activities of KAH DRITA III, the workshop highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage by engaging younger generations through creativity, participation, and shared experiences.
