In June 2009 the Municipality of Junik officially approved the Urban Development Plan “Junik 2023+” and the Urban Regulatory Plan “Centre of Junik” in a regular meeting of the Municipal Assembly. CHwB as a manager of the whole process officially handed over these plans on
July 2nd 2009. These are the first urban plans drafted in the history of this town. Junik is known as place of traditional kulla and has the highest mountain peak in Kosovo (Gjeravica 2565 m). On 15 June 2008, it was declared a new Municipality. Since 2007 the Municipality of Junik, with the support of CHwB, has drafted “A Conservation and Development Plan of Junik”, and continued in August 2008 with drafting an Urban Development Plan (UDP) and Urban Regulatory Plan (URP) for the centre of Junik. The Urban Design Company Metropolis, together with Polis University in Tirana, Albania was hired to provide professional expertise for UDP/URP.
