Last week marked the formalization of the first cross-border project between Kosovo and Ulcinj, implemented within the framework of the IPA CBC Montenegro–Kosovo 2021–2027, funded by the European Union.
The “S.T.E.P. in Community Museums” project brings together CHwB Kosovo, the Municipality of Ulcinj and the Municipality of Junik around a shared goal: strengthening the role of community museums and creating new opportunities for cultural exchange and cooperation across borders.
The project will support the advancement of the Ethnographic Museum at Ulcinj Castle and the establishment of a Community Museum in Junik, contributing to the preservation, interpretation and promotion of local cultural heritage and strengthening cultural ties between Kosovo and Montenegro.
The project was officially formalized within the historic walls of Ulcinj Castle, where the Cooperation Agreement between CHwB Kosovo and the Municipality of Ulcinj was signed. On this occasion, Project Manager Alban Morina presented the project’s objectives, planned activities and expected results.
The formalization ceremony brought together representatives of local and central institutions, including the Mayor of Junik, the Mayor of Ulcinj, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, representatives of the European Union Delegation, representatives of the Ulcinj City Museum, as well as municipal officials and other institutional representatives.
The project marks another step towards closer cooperation between communities in Kosovo and Ulcinj through culture, heritage and shared local experiences.
This initiative was developed by CHwB Kosovo and the Municipality of Ulcinj as part of the S.T.E.P. in Community Museums project, with the support of the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Montenegro–Kosovo.
