Integrated Conservation projects in Junik Municipality

It all began in 2001, in a context where cultural heritage was not a priority compared to the needs of reconstruction of the burned houses, in short, the return to normal life. Just this year, with a fund of the European Commission and the Swedish International Development Agency, Sida, the Swedish foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders, restored the kulla known as Oda e Junikut as
canon “institution” for solving social problems through the centuries when the region and the whole country was under Ottoman occupation. Many organizations and other owners in Junik and in other areas of Kosovo were motivated to invest in the protection of traditional houses. Furthermore, cooperation of CHwB continued adminsitration of the newly formed municipality of Junik. Being motivated, they did everything possible to put cultural heritage at the center of economic development of their municipality. All the strategic documents produced during these years by the municipality and its partners were inspired by the natural and cultural heritage of Junik.
